Hello boys and girls, First of all I want to say Hello to the Polycount Community. I am glad to be here. My first post is a Robot. That I have started a couple of days ago. Its my first attempted to build a Mech like Model. Updates coming soon.
Awesome idea! I'd be careful with the spines/ridges you've got on you profile view of the whole dog statue/robot - makes it feel more like the mounts in heroes of the storm than something Egyptian inspired. Looking forward to seeing this progress! :)
i'd rethink the arm socket/shoulder bit, it's making it look like a robot. sculpting the hard surface stuff... depends on what you're wanting to do, light scratches and wear and tear would be simpler in photoshop and those eyes are fucking creepy
Eh.. no. I just thought it was funny. Plus it humanizes those shield agents somewhat, makes them seem more like characters instead of just mindless robots looking at computers that are just there to fill up background space. Also it was Galaga.
as Snader said the Chromatic aberration is too strong...personally I would turn it off completely...imo it makes more sense in scenes where a lot of technically things are placed ..like robotics or war machines and even then just a slightly tone of it.
If I were you, I'd straighten some of the edges on your UV map to make them easier to paint. The middle seam of the torso will look better if it's straight, and the arms and the robot's legs ought to be much easier to work on if you change them.
I think it depends what kind of hardsurface character and what you feel will personally save you some time, a machinen krieger I would say no, an evangelion style robot probably yes. Play to your strengths in each software.
Great photo rooster. The trouble with being judged by a jury of your peers is that it assumes your peers have an ounce of common sense. The bat company should have protested that the jury consisted of too many humans, and too few rational robots.
I haven't done anything in forever, so here's a crazy crustacean space robot with wooden cone heads for hands... >_> Ionno *shrugs* Check out the deviation for a quick background on him. http://feel-the-void.deviantart.com Thanks for your time, guys
www.peperaart.com <- one of his robots has springs on the legs. It looks like he just used a cylinder for the low poly. From the looks of it you would probably want to make the wire thicker so the coils touch to minimize potential issues.
