your mehs is fine... no need for a higher version... have you assigned the subD tag for the mesh... so that the mesh gets subdivided by mentalray during rendering..? here at 4:30 min https://vimeo.com/33319307
While, you guys are on it. I had this so many times before, what would be the place to look for the Max Distance feature in "normal" Light Tracer rendering ? Or would this only work within the realms of MentalRay ?
Hi guys i'm working on a tiled ground, the problem is when i use normal map all the reflection is gone i dont know why, however if a work with only a height map i got a reflection and when i add the nrml map the reflection is gone. using 3ds max 2012 and mentalray
IF this was Max I'd say you have overlapping UVs in the baker for the black hair, and no smoothing groups, because MentalRay outputs that sort of map when you have those two problems - however, since you say the edges are all soft, I have no idea because I'm not familiar with Maya.
Okay i am answering my question. I figured it out. With FBX 2010.2 you can exchange the semi-sharp crease data between modo and Maya. And here is a test render from Maya/MentalRay;
How does your mesh look like? What maps are you using (diffuse, spec, displacement, sss)? What renderer do you use? Arnold, Mentalray, Vray, Cycles? And whats your light setup?
a side note, do these black lines on the top of my knife look ok or should there be none at all? In MentalRay AO baker I maxed out the Fill Seams option which is supposed to fix them attached
Update (a little changes in facial features and the bloody arm from the earlier version) turntable of the same https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwAD5NrYdhs Hi, Need your feedback on a mid detailed model sculpted and posed in zbrush and rendered in mentalray maya.
Looks like the highpoly and lowpoly are both being baked together as targets. Are you using mentalray as your renderer? I don't use mr for bakes, but I recall there being a need to manually hide the lowpoly faces. That could be it.
Regarding Maya and TIF I usually avoid it since MentalRay has some TIF-issues at times. Never really bothered to find out what the problem is since there are other formats which do the job. Like TGA.
