If you're object has modifiers and you're working on the base level, the snap doesn't work right. A specific example would be working on an editable poly object with a turbosmooth modifier. Snap will only work correctly if you temporarily turn off the turbosmooth modifier.
I wasn't planning to join any challenges, but the jar concept is so straightforward and nice I couldn't help it! Here is a mostly non-destructive blockout in Blender with quick shaders. There are a few edges that can only be adjusted once the modifiers are applied, and I'm going for quads to sculpt imperfections in…
two words : modifiers and quadchanfer ( ok its also a modifier but you get the point ) . Makes working on highpoly models super easy and non destructive as everyone on the team can edit the model without having to remove control loops or a bend modifier or FFD that is used ontop of the stack. Saves soooo much time .
First of all, congratulations on finishing the scene! In my mind that is the biggest challenge of all. It does feel like a dungeon right out of Skyrim. A couple of things I feel you could do to improve your scene would be: - Make a triplanar material/shader, it would solve your tiling issue on the walls without having to…

so I have been messing with boot panelling in my spare time, used the well known panelling technique that I used for cars but this works great for shoes and boots and is 90 percent non destructive after exporting to zbrush and doing a bit extra detailing i use the original with 1 sub d and remove all the other modifiers to…
With the increasing amount of art theft threads showing up, it has gotten me a little worried over what would and what wouldn't be considered art theft now. Let me explain my situation. I'm currently working on expanding my portfolio, and I plan on using a concept to form up the general idea of my environment. So I found a…
I'm a professional rigger in the industry atm - working in AAA games. Looking for some fun rigs to do in my spare time to boost my skills. Work will be free and I'll make no profit off it - but I must be able to share/showcase the model online. I have a very good animator (also in the industry) handy too so we'll hopefully…
You can use skin utilities, in the Utilities panel. SkinUtilities>Extract Skin Data To Mesh. This will copy your skinned mesh and saved the skinned data inside of the skin data mesh now. Then you will need to right click and copy the skin modifier on the old mesh and then delete the skin modifier on the original mesh. This…
You have to hide the Lowpoly if you bake with MRay...nit the Objrct, but the Geometry...simply add a edit Poly Modifier beneath the Projection Modifier and there select all Polygons and Hide them...you cann then turn off/delet the Modifier after/between baking...(you have to turn it off if you want to edit the…
