So I did a bit more research/reading on iRay VR and there's actually a bit more information to it. At a basic level, iRay can take snapshots of both a left and a right eye image which is used to make the 360 degree panorama. This is the stuff that runs on any headset and isn't performance taxing. What Nvidia showed in the…

I figure this should be relatively simply but it's been giving me a hard time. Can you use a texture map for glow and still render in mental ray? From what I've seen it doesn't seem to work. Would it better to just render the glow in software and comp it in after the fact? If so how can you just render glow with an alpha…
http://andrewclarkart.blogspot.com/p/trf-511.html I modeled the TRF 511 initially using Max 2009 then finished the kit and did renders in 2012. Most of the parts use turbosmooth, It weighs in at 16 million plus polys, and I hope to do the electronics at some point. I also want to do an exploded render of the car as well as…
If I render from frame 1, there's no delay in the render starting. If I render from frame 1000, Backburner takes about an hour to start spitting out frames. It just say's "Busy" and all the cores are running at 100% on the farm. I've never had a problem with this before! I have no idea what's going on... anyone ever…
Hi there everyone! New to the forum here, but I though I would share some of my work I just finished and maybe see what you all think. The project was to create a highpoly and low poly + textures WWII tank. Mine was T-34-85 and here are some renders: Highpoly: Unfortunately my PC was dying trying to render it with a…
http://digimania.com/ "Epic's engine is also used in RenderDigimania, a standalone app that employs the Unreal technology to render animations created in Maya or Max. You simply model and animate your meshes, then export via FBX or Alembic and import them into RenderDigimania. There you can arrange your assets, add…
That's already in backlog. @malcolm thanks for the test. Now I got a clue what's going on. Short update on directx11 render engine Coming along with the new render view. It's written entirely in c++ Currently adding all those features I need. Have to triangulate polygons for the renderer as well. First stress test with a…
It's more or less based on budget. No point going for a $1000 GPU if you can only afford a $500 computer, for example. Generally speaking though, more VRAM, CUDA Cores is better for rendering*. How much, you need to look for benchmarks used online. There's a thread on Polycount with more information of buildings rigs…
