Is the decal shape the same from ship to ship? Is the mesh shape different from ship to ship? Then you'll need to do them by hand. No way around that. Or else, you need to model in the shapes when you make the ship parts.
Hi nice software there!! Can u add a feature where u can project decal textuers (like those dmg and leak textuers) with alerady baked maps for them on texture kinda usefulll for enviorment artists like me
Little more progress and sketching. Trying to figure out what kind of decals / icons / symbols will work. Mostly doodling, but I really should go back and start going through ref again to come up with something stronger.
Thanks for the input Obscura I am actually worried about decals having more detail on one modular segment than the other. I'll just get the parts built and see what happens once I start texturing.
I sure did shy away from getting decals on the objects which are not the floor or the walls. I should've at least introduce some vertex paining on them. Thanks for the explanation. Gonna keep that in mind in the future for sure :D Cheers!
Ooh this looks beautiful buddy! I love it! I only feel like there's something lacking in the grip? Perhaps it's not organic enough to comfortably sit around a hand? But honestly everything looks great. I love the worn text/decals.
It also helps that there's a lot of asymmetrical props and features, and the colors are pretty flat, and the contrast is low. There's not many medium/large details that have contrast, otherwise it would show up more obviously. The folds and skull decals show the mirroring the most.
Would love some feedback on my spaceship that I'm currently working on. It's inspired by the " Spacecraft take off - design concept" by Thibault Girard, https://www.artstation.com/artwork/AN58N, and has been adapted with the stylings of Star Citizen mainly following the design ques from the manufactures of Kruger…
yeah so when i said i was gonna work on this i really meant i was gonna slack off, didn't do much just playing with dirt and grime and added some props. post/lighting wise i went really crazy dont know if its better or worse been staring at it too long that is why i post it for polycount to crit :P Still need to add all…
Don't know if anyone's mentioned this but decals help a great deal on tileable stuff. Cheap and easy to place on flat surfaces (decals can encompass stuff like small pebbles, stains, grime, etc). Everything else people have gone onto great extent to mention I would agree with...the textures need some more detail and they…
