Also when doing overlapping double sided strips: when in move mode you can hold control and drag a mask that will calculate surface distance. Useful for applying a mask to a top lying area of strip, and then flipping the mask when needed.
You don't switch between IDs. They're just guides that you use as masks. Simply right-click on an ID and select the appropriate menu item - either mask the current selection to that ID or mask a new Smart Material to that ID.
White mask value = left of the gradient and black mask value = right side of the gradient (or the other way around, I can't remember). I think. So, it pulls values from the gradient where the mask transitions between black and white.
Substance Dirt Masks and tools Download Substance nodes -RO AO- This is a new AO node that mimicks the ouputs of AO maps in X-normal from a flat texture standpoint. This is an expensive node and highly editable for different results. The base settings should be alright for most textures. -RO Overlay Grayscale- This the…
Hi everyone! We are considering the possibility of offering paid freelance work to 3d artists who are looking at making some cash on the side. (On a side note there is also a position for paid full time contract work that may become available. I'll post in the paid job postings when I know for sure.) About us and the work…
Is the t-shirt under the overalls connected to something or did you delete the poly's there? I think you've mentioned how you've done it already but how did you do the clothes? Did you just take polygons inside max and duplicated them or did you just select and duplicate parts of the mesh inside zbrush with a mask? How do…
Normalmaps cant do magic. Each pixel overwrites the normal of the lowpoly shading with the highpoly shading. The stronger the difference between high and lowpoly the more issues will arise. You are simply asking too much of a normalmap. You could give it a lot more texturespace and bit depth or you need to minimize the…
Hi guys! I have a problem with the masks in DDO. I have created masks in Photoshop and it does not matter how sharp i make the masks it will alsways create a grey line between my IDed areas. Does anyone have this problem too or know what to do? Thanks! Calvin
You're almost there. You're adding your mask to the colored monitor background. The straight add is resulting in the blended color. You'll need to mask off the scrolling text from the monitor, then add the masked monitor to the colorized text. Like this photoshop mockup.
You need a mask texture. It's just black and white image, where white means metal and black is non-metal. You can easy create this mask in photoshop from your current texture and then plug in this mask in metallic channel in your material.
