Hi Everyone I've been an animator in the industry for a while. I enjoy 3D modelling but have quite a few missing gaps. I'm going to model about 10 wooden buildings for a project I'm on. It would be pretty cool if I could get them up to current generation standards and maybe one day use one of them in a showreel. I've been…
looks like enormous cost for lumen in this scene. You can toggle lumen by placing a post process volume in the scene, set the extent to be unbound, and then set the reflection and global illumination to none, rather than lumen. I dont have this project, but I am using lumen in my own projects and not seeing cost like that…
Me and Arshlevon were having this conversation a bit the other night. Bare with me now as I'm gonna ramble a bit. I think there is a huge majority of people in the industry as artists, who aren't really artists. They are technicians. They have learned a very limited ruleset of this+that=game asset. While it results in ok…
I learned Maya when I was in 7th grade. I torrented the maya essential training and went from there. Yeah I didn't learn anything really advanced for a long time but my point is that if you have the right tutorial, anyone can learn any program. You just have to pick a set of tutorials that will take you from knowing…
I totally agree with Xoliul on this, but i can also see the point (when you are really new) to see something be created from scratch with all the steps included. I remember when i where new, i followed alot of tutorials step by step and it looked awesome but when i tried making something original i had loads of truble…
My work so far! I could call it finished, but If someone has any ideas to make the scene better, do tell please! After started and (kind of) finishing a awesome mech-tank I am now starting on a new portfolio piece called: Sanctum. (My old thread: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116199) I will make my first…
It's more likely an issue on the rendering side. If you're using Maya/Arnold, try searching for that. This is also a good resource to look at: https://www.cggallery.com/tutorials/disp With the 32bit image, even if it looks black there's still data there.
Tobbo: Yeah you're really right! I do need to narrow down this Modeling passage. I have dabbled in several different areas, and I actually have several projects coming up that vary as well. While I do these upcoming projects I will take into consideration how much I enjoy doing each one and which one I loved doing the…
Minding my own business working on an asset when I encountered an issue and here we are with a tutorial. Most of it is part of old Polycount but some fresh take. Full version here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/rlGqrE Its 2025 we have nanite, AI, lots of procedural tools and fancy features yet I keep seeing students,…
Hello! I have Quixel 2.2 and I am having trouble figuring out how to use it. I use Blender 3D with it, and I can't find a good tutorial to learn Quixel. The tutorials I have found either 1. Don't explain what they are doing to get their results... It's basically "Yay I imported a bunch of things and now the model is…
