Hi all, atm i'm working at model from this http://cghub.com/images/view/90653/ concept 7 i need advice. 1). What is a better way to model roof/gates/floor on platform over the gates/etc.? 2). Hard edges, i read that hard edge should be beveled, so on render it looks more believable i'm in fear of over-detail lowpoly mesh..…
@FourtyNights : while the technical characteristics of the models are indeed similar to the output of current 3d scanning tech (automatic meshing + vcols) which indeed is not usable directly in a game if a high visual fidelity is needed, the remarkable thing to me is how the tech does an incredible job at capturing…
I don't think doing high res and normal mapped models is absolutely necessary... Gameloft appears to do more casual kinds of games on platforms with more accessible graphics so if that's what you're aiming for then just work on your texturing skills. I wouldn't even bother with modeling your own designs at this point...…
Hey everyone, I am new to polycount, and I am very excited to be part of the community. I am not a very experienced 3D artist, and I am looking for some advice on something I am working on right now. I am working on a pair of arms for a FPS game I would like to put together. I sculpted the basic forms of the arms in Zbrush…
Hi, I am back with another baking issue: I have a low poly model and one subd model, but I am not able to create a decent bake at the intersection between the cushion and the sofa itself. I have added support edge loops to make subd model hold its shape (for example the edge of cushion). But I run into a situation where my…
I started an animation a few years ago and, now that we're all self-isolating, would like to use the time to finish it off. It's currently about 70% complete. I'm looking for a strong character modeller to build a single model for the film. The model needs to be a caricature rather than a photorealistic person.
> I'm currently searching online for some turnaround model sheets for an overweight 12 year old Wiccan girl I've created for a story I'd like to make a webtoon for. However, after searching Google images, I haven't found any suitable model sheets to follow. This is a rather uncommon body type, so I'm not really all that…
Hey guys I was recently watching a tutorial by Romain Chaulic in which he used a female rigged model to help him get a feel for the pose and scale of the model he was making. I was wondering if anyone knows of any cheap models that I could use for this purpose as I think this work flow would really benefit me until I can…
Hello dear Polycount-minion friends! I've created this topic to ask you a question, and finaly find myself an excuse to finally write something down in this wonderful community, and start a new discussion. Some time ago I have realised that lot of articles about #gamedevelopment talks much about using houdini in the game…
Heya people. I just joined the forums and am fairly new to modelling with only 2 months in. I wish to ask some questions about polygon count in games though I think you guys are quite sick of that topic already. Firstly, how much polygon count could a game scene have, especially for high end graphic cards like the GTX 780…
