Drawing helps conceptualise your ideas. Sculpting helps you understand three dimensional space. If you have the opportunity to do both, do them. Don't get lost in the anal-ity of detail, i.e. human anatomy for the sake of it... it needs to be looked at in the broader sense of understanding 'shape' and 'form' rather than…
i took a crack at the fish on the right. I think I might change the way I've represented the tail in the sculpt before making the game geo. Could push the expression of the mouth slightly too I think. Otherwise I think I'm ok wtih moving forward on this fish. Gemma, feel free to crit here too!
Sculpting some big folds on her Jacket. Haven't done the zipper yet, maybe tomorrow, and going to do some more detail on smaller/memory folds of the jacket. Yeah, its a pretty slow progress, as finding some motivation is pretty hard for me lately. So just doing this in my free time and when i felt like it.
We decided to do moodboards of some artist and sculpts that we like that kind of define the direction where each one of us wants to go to in the future. Just to have something like a goal. And here are also my first 2 speedsculpts for the thread! Please feel free to write some feedback i would really appreciate that.…
Looks good for first model but you should seriously buy a tablet if you are serious about doing 3D art.I have genius MousePen i608X and never had any problems with it I use it all the time for sculpting and painting and I have no idea why everyone says that genius tablets suck and broke often because its not true.
True enough! On a related note (though from your blog I'm guessing you're already familiar) I think anyone sculpting traditionally should also look into silicone molding and eurethane casting. Not terribly useful artistically but very cool to be able to cast copies of your work (and useful for making costumes, for the…
http://eat3d.com/free/zbrush_stone Mudbox is great in that you can open it up for the first time and be sculpting in 30 seconds without someone telling you how to navigate the ui. That being said, once I learned the basics of Zbrush (through the 3.5/4 eat3d dvds), I found my self using that more often than not.

Hi! Long time no see. Lots happened, but I won't bore you with that. Here's a new piece I'm working on in my free time. I took the design of Taliyah from League of Legends, but I'll be adjusting it a little, or at least not going for likeness. It's all about making a good looking full character sculpt in the end. The…
I'm putting together my portfolio to try and get into grad school, but I need more variety in my work. This is the first game-res character I've done in this way. Please feel free to comment and critique. Any and all suggestions are welcome. The concept was not done by me, the base mesh was done in 3ds Max, the Sculpting…
