Thank you for your very nice and thought out post I totally agree with you on your opening line. The texturing needs a lot more work along with the lighting to make it look more realistic (realism would be the direction i would want to take it in) As a novice this is one of the first models i have ever used more than one…
I am in the same boat and just recently started. I realized after pushing myself too hard too fast and not getting much accomplished I needed to slow down and process everything, because this stuff is a lot to learn. I am a research nut so the first thing I did was go all over researching for tools that the pros use then…

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce a portfolio piece on what I worked these last months! My goal was to create a scene like it was part of an actual game level, this means that I have created the assets to be reusable, the level is quite large for this kind of exercise and I spent a lot of time on the optimization.…
Hey, here's my latest weapon: The Kriss Vector SMG I've been hard at work, to make this the most realistic & accurate weapon yet. So I created the weapon from tons of references & also modeled almost all of the interior. The weapon comes in at about 9k polys & a 4K texture sheet - PBR of course & in 4 versions: 1. Clean…

Awesome croissant sculpt! I agree with Joopson that the wood texturing is noisy, its taking away from the great sculpt imo. I think the concept you're working with is appealing because of how clean it is, its got a lot of focus on color+shape with bigger stylized details. Of course, if you're going for a more stylized PBR…
Thanks for the encouraging comments guys! But yipes, please don't derail my thread! I'm definitely not sticking to my current "internship" for much longer. Even if it's experience, it's experience that I won't need in the future, because I hope that I'll never have to work in project like this ever again. What they want me…
I think you definitely need to learn some pbr stuff. Switching to the specular shader would not fix this, the problem is in the textures. I checked out your stuff on art station and some of your other work also suffers from this. The bb8 for example. It has metallic values on non metal areas. If you are not sure about what…
