Thanks a lot for the feedback, should have payed a bit more attention to fp view, and should have seen the problems on the sight. I'll see if I can find some time to fix those areas up, but if I don't I'll make sure to keep the main thing (keeping in mind the viewing angle for insets/extrusions like that) in mind for…
model like you have before, than delete and weld edges. or create that inset sepratly delete the geo where you want to place it, than use bridge to connect it back in. it doesn't matter what the LP looks like when smoothed. why are you doing a LP only, a lot of details in this would be best baked from a high poly.
[ QUOTE ] Shadows - yeah, that's pretty much what I'd be doing with Array. The only problem with that is that the original object doesn't stay editable, since they're all attached. If I wanted to change the width/height/shape of one of the inset areas, I'd have to delete all the other parts and Array it again. [/ QUOTE ]…
I like the overall look, but right now the seams are so tight that they might as well not even be in the normal map. Thats part of the problem with the rivets as well, a little softer on the inset, and it'll help sell it. Also, lighten up the black in the seams on the dif a good bit, that doesn't help with the total…
looking really good, the only thing that stands out to me as odd is that sort of 'n' shape on the bottom side of the building(most obvious on the furthest right angle) it is hard to read in the concept but I would read it as 2 large stone bricks or maybe even 2 large crates. Also it would be cool if the windows were…
Yea I agree with the two above, the latest image is close, it killed a lot of the noise. It just needs to get that separation and unity within each of the elements. I think if the cast iron was back lit very subtley it would combine really well with Framedworld's suggestion of allowing the inset lights to illuminate the…
Update version 2.01: Hello! I just updated my script on ArtStation which now comes with a new option "Force offset" that might help achieve a better result in certain situations. Basically, as you can see in the animation below, if you check this box, an offset will be applied to the Quad Fill Hole no matter what. Update…
Hi all, so i'm trying to model a Nokia 3310 cos why not?! I'm struggling with how to organise the topology around the buttons. So far all i've done is booleaned where the buttons need to go but haven't done much clean up. I think i inset around button 2 to tighten up the edges but the rest is a mess. Wondering how you…
I think this workshop is a great idea and will help alot of people. I've already learnt a few things :) Anyway here's what i've made so far... I made the holes by pushing some edges out of the way. Then i removed the edges where i want the hole to be. What was left was a big 16 sided poly. I inset that polygon and made it…
So I had this idea of making something like the I/O tower. It's chrome, running sandboxes in which red(MCP allies), yellow(hackers/viruses) and green (corrupted files/bugs) can do no harm. My question: is this within limits? The building is 1013 triangles and the lightbeam would be a separate 'prop' of 255 tris. Also, is…
