It's absolutely not necessary to go buy a giant workstation to make 3d models and hasn't been since about 2008. You can probably do the work you need to do on that machine quite comfortably - I used a worse one when I was working on first party PS4 titles. You may want more ram for zbrush but in general I'd suggest not…
@myclay Thanks, I tried it but it does not make a difference. I even tried to use the pen in hover mode a use a click of the bottom, but the behavior is the same. Somewhere in Topogun there seems to be a treshold. @pior I use Topogun 3 for the patches feature.
I guess it's quite "old" as scripts go. It's a shame lame Autodesk didn't implement some working "shadow" MenuMan code with the new menu system implementation so old scripts would still work.
Hi! I am a 3D modeler and currently wish to start a team to create a car combat MMO game. Will be similar to the Twisted Metal series but with many new features and many other functions! I will be making all the 3D models needed including building, roads, props, NPCs and weapons. However, I need some people to help me with…
What's up guys. Had a quick question on Cavity Maps. I currently use cavity maps to make my spec map pop out more, but is it useful to use cavity maps on top of diffuse, say overlay or screen blending mode? I've done some tests and can't find the right blending mode on which to set the cavity over the diffuse, but I've…
I've plugged in the textures created from Quixel Suite to the respective material nodes in UE4 but for some reason the texture comes out super shiny. I've read posts about others having the same issue and I've deselected sRGB for my spec/gloss maps and changed the nodes to Linear Colour however the texture doesn't change…
I'm sorry I missed this discussion when it was started a decade ago, and I'm sorry that the links above are broken, but I'll add my comments now for the record. I published a paper about pie menus in the proceedings of 1988 ACM SIGCHI conference called “An Empirical Comparison of Pie vs. Linear Menus”, in which we measured…
Alrighty! Back to business. After dealing with my kayak scene for the previous exam I gained quite a lot of knowledge as how to handle water.. so I redid most of my shader and got this effect: I think I could sit there and stare at it for a looong time. Probably will keep this angle for videos. If only I could keep those…
I finally got tired of waiting for someone responsible to do something about this. ***WARNING*** artist writing code - prepare for your computer to be irreversibly damaged. If you have ever tried bringing vertex colors in from Blender - you will quickly run into the issue of no vertex alpha - until now! This is a two part…
I'm having a bit of trouble with a model I made and having it set up in Hammer, and viewable in the Model Viewer. My model looks like this, and looks like the following after compiled: http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/8007/finishedcoatrack.png http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/9671/strange.png *I should note that even…
