Hey all, I've been modelling this stump throughout the month. I feel I'm about ready to start painting some texture but I wanted to get some feedback on the sculpting portion first before I decimate and UV and texture. Please feel free to critique and comment as much as you would like :) -
Space Marine Sculpt (Zbrush)

Re: Need Anatomy guidance/paintovers etc.
Took a bit more time and tried to get it better. I wanted to get some more crits before it make the lowpoly mesh. I don´t have the skills/anatomy knowledge yet to sculpt it perfectly and I won´t be able to work on it till it is perfect- plus, it is my first approach on anatomy. So, more to come, better ones to come.… -

Thanks for the tip! I know what you mean about the length. It would also look a lot more throwable if it had three blades instead of just the two, as others have pointed out, or the blades were curved. I'm already working on my next set, though, so I probably won't be making any more changes to the Magebreaker, at least… -

My budget should be nothing as I just made some pretty expensive purchases... But I've still got around $150 on me. The small Intuos P&T costs around $130 which is achievable for me. Now the medium version costs $260 which is way beyond what I can afford but if the difference is really noticeable then maybe I could try and… -

After reading comments, I think one point particularly is missing: Pixologic will give the next r7 with those new tools just as a free upgrade, which isn't so bad, right? While correct proportions, shapes and and rendering are all important for good figure drawing, there are other concepts you need to be aware of such as gesture, the negative vs positive shapes, breaking the figure into basic forms and a bunch of other stuff. They all apply to 3D as well, but it's much quicker to sketch out… -

For an environment, I would say sticking to bump maps will be better for an ametuer. This is especially true if you are attempting to make full levels. As AnimeAngel mentioned, normal maps are much more costly in terms of time. You have to sculpt out the geometry, and then render the normal map. Doing this for main… -
