Is this a render from Maya? What renderer? After baking, you want to make sure to NOT edit the baked normal map, nor edit the smoothing or UVs of the target lowpoly model. The baked normal map relies on preserving continuity from the bake process onward. Any edits can cause trouble.
@Eric Chadwick Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. :) I agree that the lighting still needs adjustment to better match the reference, and doing a proper side-by-side comparison is a great suggestion. I’ve been refining the lighting continuously, but that’s definitely something I can be more systematic about…
Hello everyone. Made a character, I used simple bones from max to rig, each time I tried to load the character in the character editor it crashes. Strangely I can drag and drop it into any level without a hitch and works just fine but I just can't use character editor for it. Strangely I just created a box in max, rigged…

Inconsistencies in your checker pattern across texture seams is to be expected. It may just be a coincidence that the checker pattern in the tutorial doesn't appear to be inconsistent. If it doesn't cause too much distortion you may consider sewing those two edges together to keep the UVs contiguous in that area. Keep in…
Update - to everyone that responded; thank you. It will take me a bit to evaluate the submissions as we are quite busy. I appreciate your patience. We’re currently working on static visual assets for a cyberpunk-themed website and e-commerce shop that sells enterprise servers and IT hardware. The aesthetic is dark with…
Hello! I started learning Plasticity recently and wanted to share some of my thoughts about the software. Maybe this will be interesting for people like me, who have a poly-modeling background and consider giving CAD a go. First of all I was pleasantly surprised how "artist" friendly Plasticity is. The interface is very…

No you do not need to make them flow together. Depends on the object. In the real worlkd, would those two surfaces be one surface, or would they be made of separate objects? With non-continuous surfaces you will get more anti-aliasing artifacts. And you will have more work solving projection errors. But still, it is…
Heya - About this new handle : IMHO it's really just a matter of looking at the reference in a more investigative manner. "How would this be built in the real world ?" Obviously this would be achieved by carving details over a smooth wooden handle. Meaning that the surfaces that are not carved in will have continuity since…
