TEN? How long have you got to make 10 pieces? If you've got time to be original and make art, then go for it. I say "Keep it simple", make 10 items that appear in games - and realise that in the making of these 10 assets you'll learn a huge amount of the techniques the course is going to teach you.
7/10 is not the end of the world, and there were a few valid points there too, that there has been a ton of games that came out ever since the game was delayed that expanded alot of stuff with that genre. 9/10 games should be reserved for the very very unforgettable experiences that you'll be playing 10 years from now.
10 years ago the ratio of pretty, to content, was around 2:10. now it's 10:2. i realise textures take up memory and all that jazz. but come on... can't i have ONE game that not only looks good, but takes me forever to finish? Gothic 3 did a good job...

After changing to directX 10 in configure driver and reloading max, all objects are rendered with triangular faces even when I turn it off in configure driver and reload. Also the main grid lines that cross 0,0 are missing. Anyone else have this problem? To be honest i've no need to use directX 10 I was just fiddling…
