Yep, the 500 series will be fine and they are CUDA enabled. I have owned a Quadro and still use an ATI FirePro. While they are great cards for cg work, I really havent noticed a big enough difference between them and the Gtx 560 I own when it comes to cg work, or at least where the cost vs performance is concerned. Honestly, the core 2 extreme is a waste of money. You can buy the E6600 or E6700 and overlock them to the Extreme's specs (air cooling is more than enough) and you'll save about $400-500 right there. Hi walkonsky I am using a HP LP2475w and a newer HP ZR2440w, the LP2475 wins hands down on all fronts and it is older but it has held it's retail value at around 520 euros.
