Last year whilst working partime freelance, I'd snared a couple of paid jobs by 'word of mouth' since I don't have an online art showcase for perusal and as too portfolio presentation, either research the wiki or browse this thread highlighting artists who've gained employment via their respective folio of work.
See this in the Forum Home? The sections have descriptions. Your topic belongs in 3D Showcase, instead of in General Discussion. I'll move it for you. Also, you can embed YouTube here, see: http://polycount.com/discussion/63361/information-about-polycount-new-member-introductions/p1#forum Thanks for posting!
Man, I was thinking exactly the same when I looked at that WB level. Imagine the fun! This is gaining the attention from everyone, lol. Even the stadium guys are trying to contact him: http://www.sonicstadium.org/blog/2010/08/25/new-2-5d-sonic-project-showcases-mushroom-hill-zone/
Interesting, thanks for the feedback! You may be right, I'll have to check out my game on a few other monitors as well. Here's a little murder-storyboard to showcase the grass I worked 2 days on to get right. It was surprisingly technically challenging, but I'm really happy with how it turned out Thoughts?
I actually like Toby as Spiderman. He showcases the goofy nerdy side of Spiderman, but he still can get convincingly pissed. I also think they chose the perfect actors for Norman and Harry. MJ... maybe not so much, she seemed cancerous and whiny in the second one, but its not too bad.
I tell them "do you see in tv commercials, where they showcase a cleaning product, that the flowers go around the screen, or the harry potter magic spells and dragons? I do this, it's like drawing" I will not explain further the difference in video games vs film... If they are familiar with the subject i will further…
Did some quick research and fog volumes are still under consideration. https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?6065-Fog-Volume-aka-a-BOX-of-FOG I did find some alternatives though, https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/34730/volumetric-material.html…
Not that old, lol. I'm talking about assets you made for your old project. However this is where you showcase your latest work, so I understand if you don't want these here. I can just remove them if you want. I'm just trying to say that they still look great. (:
We don't have an explicit rule about this issue. However we generally allow game work-in-progress posts in the other sections of the forum. As long as you post periodic progress, info about how the art was made, etc. I'm moving this to the 2D Showcase section. Feel free to post updates in this thread.
It's not so much about putting something out to make money as an individual, but rather using a tool to showcase a talent. Just trying to find the best tool to do that, to build a portfolio. And my friends are the most critical group. If I could make something they enjoyed, I'd consider myself as having done a good job.
