solution? if you can? use TURTLE! I said that here manytimes, but the problem is that Autodesk still doesn't have on the regular Maya, which sucks. But Turtle IS the best baking plugin/app ever. Fastest and all packed with game dev features.
Ya I'm using a maya 2012 with the 2012 FBX plug-in and having these issues. Autodesk's site shows a 2013 plug-in; you guys think I should give that a try? XOliul's method seems to work just fine so far
maybe it is just me but I don't think you should have a model in your portfolio that was done from a tutorial... http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3d-studio-max/model-a-detailed-high-poly-fire-hydrant-in-3ds-max/
I am bumping this to ask a simple question: IF you have created custom material based on Stingray PBS material's standard base in Maya, have you experienced the same problem? (I am already asking Autodesk for some comments.)
That sounds like clearly reproducible bug with Maya. You should report it to Autodesk via the menu in Help->Speak Back->Report a problem As for fixing it, have you tried deleting history? Run Mesh Cleanup? Exporting as obj/fbx and reimporting?
i would start with the native max hair tools... they are based on shave and are good to start with... and use splines to style the hair and not the comping tools... if you have some money give ornatirx a try... https://www.ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/
@Axi5 I see. I guess I should still stick around with DC Bool Manager. I just wish Autodesk would sort out these booleans one day. Personally it has been the worst thing in Maya for me.
autodesk should add the modifier concept of 3dsmax to maya - I can imagine that you script works well but still I would feel abit uncomfortable having to run a script constantly in the background. The GUI could use some simplicity
Hey guys, sorry to be a complete doofus for asking but where can I find that spiffy new obj import/export plugin that should be used in place of max's built in one? I hear even autodesk is recommending it until they fix theirs.
Reading around it seems to affect Direct3D, so its not a simple "Just dont use OGL" thing... http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/installation---hardware---os/asus-geforce-gtx-480-problems-in-3ds-max-2011/
