Day 18: Boolean workflow frustrations Today I got the bolt carrier and ejection port made. I replaced the spline intended to subtract into the upper with two capsules. I also did some minor fixes to the front and rear sight. Ok I definitley have some issues with the workflow. The biggest problem is once you have added an…
I'm getting some artifacts when I subtract with mesh fusion. I'm very new to the plug-in so am really just looking for a better understanding of the tool. Everybody seems to show videos of how to use it, but nobody seems to record common problems/ limitations and how they're resolved. first image shows artifacts around…
I'm using a clay-strip subtraction brush in Blender, and no matter what I do, the indentation is consistently square. You can see the sort of shape I'm getting from it in the bottom-right corner of the above image. I've even loaded up a circular texture mask to try to fix it, but this seems to have no effect. Can anyone…
i dont know if its exactly the same, but i put in the announcements so i would know what was happening with the math. with the second floor set to 2 and the first set to 1 and the basement set to 0. the b value is set to one in the compare int. my idea being that if it gets triggered at the first floor it will equal…
The correct way of changing scratching intensity would be to open the dynamask editor for the paint layer (layer that is peeled off to reveal the metal) and see if you can reconfigure it to have less coverage. Tons of options there to achieve that. This will trigger DDO to update every single map properly. And in general,…
Hey guys, I'm currently having major issues modelling this spiral bit on the cylinder. (This is a concept by Mikhail Rakhmatullin) I'm a maya user and I have to transition to max. Please do note that I'm an absolute noob at this ): and even as a maya user I still fail lol. But anyway. I haven't tried this in Maya but when…
Nice job! Just a tip... I see you actually making the Euclidean distance formula by hand(with the subtraction, dot product and then the square root). - Why not just use the "Distance" node under "High Level" ? Much easier and less nodes to worry about. :) Distance node vs: individual nodes... Just a suggestion! ...unless…
paroxum, it's the 2nd method, except I used textures for the mixing of the terrain layers. I used MentalRay's terrain blend shader to give me some falloffs of shear edges and high areas, I painted some of it in ZB with 3d painting. The large rocks that aren't the mountain use upZ in the world to place grass, and I can add…
The boolean operations have a lot of different options, see if playing around with them gives you a better result. There's things like Additive B + A, Subtractive B - A, lots of things like that. You might get the result you want trying something there :) But it shouldn't be a problem anyway, because gold isn't transparent…
I'm pretty sure that's the case with most laptops. If you go into the Display Settings > Advanced >Adapter tab it will tell you how much "shared system memory" it's using. That will be subtracted from your total amount of ram much like onboard integrated video cards in desktops. It probably has 64mb dedicated at least…
