Hello! I'm having trouble modelling a chesterfield-type sofa. I can't figure out the best way to create a high poly model that has the intricate chesterfield type pattern in it's geometry. I've seen that in 3ds max, some people use splines to deform a pattern into a sofa shape. I can't figure out how to do that either. If…
Assuming your project involves high to low poly bake workflow? then from my perspective both elements completed thus far seem fine, imo nicely quadrafied too project an optimised proxy off of. As for face counts including relative number of cylinder segments, well they're dependent upon screen space this object or parts…
Hey PC people, In my effort to iron out my knowledge of normal mapping I am in the process of modeling an object and I am working on a floating geo. I have included images of both the low poly and hi poly. Now the hi poly has been turbosmoothed in Max and next to it is the low poly. Will I need more geometry onto the LP? I…
Baking maps process For baking, I use two scenes. In one of them, the objects are moved apart from each other. This scene is for baking only normal maps. The second scene contains objects assembled together. This scene is for baking all other textures. In the substance painter, after baking the normals, I replace the scene…
@ I export from Blender. Do you mean the "Apply Transforms" option? I don’t have any active modifiers, and the model hasn’t been scaled, so I don’t use it. I only enable "Selected Objects" and "Triangulate Faces" when exporting.
another possible method is to create a sphere and all the separate patches. Now create a space warp/geometric conform object for each patch. Set the conform object to have a lookat controller to the sphere and set the sphere as the wrap to object of the conform object. now bind the patch to the conform space warp object.…
Yes, the lighting is a bit primitive. I'm only using 1 movable light due to forward shading; the other lights are static, and the light map size of the objects is limited to the 32x32-512x512 range. My assets didn't look good before I multiplied the Ao to Basecolor :/
I do agree the way Maya does it is not good as Max or Blender. I'm currently working on automating this: I'm trying to make a script that does this: Specify what the child object is Parent constraint the target to the object's offset(locator) Set the keyframes either with S shortcut or the UI Parent constraint the target…
Hi! I recently started learning marvelous designer, and I'm already got stuck on basic controls. I can't for the life of me figure out how to drag and select multiple objects in 3d view! It says right here in the manual: But no matter what I try, it doesn't work. Selection rectangle doesn't appear. I can only click on…
It's not random. An object has a transformation matrix. When you mirror an object, the matrix gets flipped, but the polygons normals stay still. To reset the matrix, you should apply a Reset Xform (under Utilities) When a flipped matrix is reseted, you'll see it will flip the faces. So you have to select them and do a…
