Hello! I'm having trouble modelling a chesterfield-type sofa. I can't figure out the best way to create a high poly model that has the intricate chesterfield type pattern in it's geometry. I've seen that in 3ds max, some people use splines to deform a pattern into a sofa shape. I can't figure out how to do that either. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
Below are images just to show what I've got so far. I can make a sofa shape and a chesterfield pattern. I'm just not at the level where I can combine them.
Edit:
I've got a bit further. This was achieved by making the pattern and then using 'bend' to wrap it around into a sofa shape. It's still difficult to keep control of the mesh flow. It's not quite as exact as I'd like so I'm going to keep working on it.
Edit 2:
In case anyone else needs help with this, I've got to a point where I've figured out how to make a high poly chesterfield sofa and bake down a normal map onto a low poly. There's still plenty of room for improvement but it's a good start.
In the end I had to make a low poly in a very similar way to the high poly. I had to use the bend tool and remember the parameters I used on the highpoly to make sure it bent in exactly the same way which is annoying. It doesn't seem like a very efficient way of doing things. However, it worked and the bakes came out fairly well.
Thanks for the help from commenters. I'm going to keep working on this until I've mastered it. If there's any other Modo users out there that need advice, or have got advice for me feel free to message.

I use the viewport 2.0 in Maya but I think that you can do it in Modo aswell.
