oh came up with a problem using the switcher plugin.. In max you are usually able to shift+drag an edge to extrude it. a tool I really like and missed when i used maya. But with the stitcher plugin this function no longer works. is there a way to assign this to another key? whats the name of the tool?
Thanks a lot for the answer! Didn't know of the Loft objects before. Looks promising, will take a closer look at those as soon as possible. I have now done it by manually extruding the edges, which I was afraid of first. It took some time but it looks quite good now I think :)
No Prob. I have it on a shelf button. I have a double click variant which selects based on edge angle (85 to 95 degrees) rather than hard edges, this is handy for when Maya does an operation such as an extrude that creates all hard edges, even if the angle is <90 degrees.
So you got a lot of very boxy shapes. how do they read when you get some distance away from them? im guessing kinda boxy :) I think you could try and add some protruding/extruding stuff to get a more interesting silhouette.
I think I'm going to say bascially the same thing as Oobersli.. but when we did a racing game at work what we did for the track was make a spline and then make a profile of the road and side wall and just extrude it along the path.. it automatically UVs itself that way and it's easy to tweak.
I love the fact that you extruded the edge ring or and attached that plane to the belt area as well as lofting, I am only guessing and tucked the edges into the sleeve to make a really elegant and low poly coat with really nice results I will have to use that idea sometime. Good job!
Hey guys, i saw a video that showed sculpting in Zbrush, and the way he did buckles/belts was to mask out the area, then extruded the surfaces, is there a way to do this in Mudbox? Here is the video, around 1:12 is what I am talking about:…
Hello every1 Im wondering how to weld the vertex (or any other thing) in a editable poly, as an example lets say u create a box and turn it into editable poly, now using just extrude u want to create a simple ring from that box, how will u weld it at the end to make it closed? is it possible? ty lots for any help
You're sounding a lot like RIK the not-modeller here. What Achillesian is saying is to start from a cube (or WHATEVER you're most comfortable with), extrude it along the shape, and add cuts where needed. Then position the verts where you need them.
Dang it, How did I forget about SGs... I am disappointed in me.... :poly127: I guess I must have gotten confused when it says to extrude the arm and it came out wrong since its not a planar quad.
