I recently learned that straightening our UVs is a good thing to as it reduces seams and helps in better UV space utilization. I tried the same on a model that I am working on and now I am a bit confused over is it really better to gridify my UVs or to divide them differently. I tried both methods: Less seams and…
Assuming this is Toolbag: The easiest way to do this is to bake both UV sets in one baker object. You can use the texture sets feature to bake both at once. Apply a unique material to the objects for each UV layout and then turn on Multiple Texture Sets. This will bake a set of maps for each UV layout. Ignore groups will…
Also, this might be a good time to take a look at your uv layout. You could get close to the same texture density with a non-mirrored layout, with less stretching to boot! Make a few cuts in the skull (side of the upper teeth, under the cheekbone), relax the uv-shell and see what that gives you. The goal is to get close to…
If you do your clean up in edge mode, with "Preserve UVs" checked on, you can "Remove" edges (Hold ctrl while clicking remove to get rid of the verts also) or "Collapse" edges without it screwing up the UVs. Hey polycounters! long time lurker, first time poster here. http://polycritters.carbonmade.com/ I was in the process of polishing what I have in my folio. I was specifically seeking critique on the material shown in the portfolio and was wondering if the site layout should be trashed and changed for something else, I don't…
Hi everyone ! For the contest my entry will be based around a more traditional style of throne room and will fit around styles from the early Georgian period. I have chosen this period as i feel there will be many organic decorative features to show off in the end result and the period also gives much more vibrancy and…
I would probably go with cutting the fingers and unwrapping them to straight cylinders. The advantage is you get an pretty undistorted layout - even between the fingers. And you can keep the hands also quite undistored because the fingers are not interfering when relaxing. I'm not always using this layout but if you have…
