Thank you for the suggestions! It's really strange but I remade the rig using 2013 (my other license) and it worked fine and i brought it into 2016 and it also worked fine. I must have messed something up in the process and not noticed.
It could definitely be Maya 2011. At work we have quadro 4000(or maybe 4500 I can't quite remember) and they can't run vp2.0 in 2011 but they work fine in 2014. [edit] can *not run vp2.0 in maya 2011 I mean [/edit]
