(3ds max) White UVs from 'Edge Distortion'

Hello guys/girls! :)

I just remembered I was going to post a thread asking about this issue months ago, but never got around to it, so here goes:

Has anyone encountered the issue when working with the UV editor (with 'Show Edge Distortion' turned on) where suddently all of the UVs become solid white and 3ds max starts bugging out graphically?

I.E. Some seriously funky stuff happens, where the viewport is projected onto the top panels along with other general non-sense. the program crashes from it sometimes (however, in some cases the graphical bug doesn't even occur which is mostly the case, the UVs just go white.)

Turning off 'Show Edge Distortion' doesn't help, the only thing which seems to help is to restart the app, but I was wondering if I have been alone with this issue through the years or if it is a common issue (I've had it occur with 2010, 2011 and 2012.)

I've switched GPUs twice during this time, I've used a ton of different display drivers and... well I can't imagine it being due to any other hardware, unless someone has an enlightening statement to present. It's just a really odd issue, really. :)
