Using Blizzard-style art as inspiration is good, but using them as primary references without understanding the core concepts behind arms and armour is bad; you'll be copying and incorporating their lack of understanding into your own work without realizing it. In the early 2000's basically nobody knew how armour worked…
Hello! I am finally starting this thread in Polycount. SHIFT is my final year project at university. We are producing a game cinematic trailer and I would like to share some progress here as an environment artist and hopefully get some input from artists outside of school! I will be working on the environment assets and…
this is what we suspected. we really wanted all maya nodes to be animateable and viewable in realtime. as you decribed, the only way to get this is by coding everything in the cgfx shader. plus we need to add this feature to our game engine exporter. bad luck for now, but thanks for your input.
Wow spug, nice! The snow is really well done, very atmospheric. Solid animation and the art style is so graphic and polished, you guys nailed it. Hook us up with some beta codes when the time comes! :D I've never played an MMO, but I wanna play this.
Mostly coder, but i try to learn other arts too. Since i'm a FPS freak having a few FPS-like engines almost made (but none finished :-P), all my model work is made to be used there. Skipping the extra blahblah that comes into my mind right now, i decided to make a small one-handed shotgun-like gun, similar to the one used…
"Pixel Normal WS node" <--- THIS That's the problem. More precisely, you're trying to change the Normal Map through this PixelNormal node, thereby causing an infinite loop. The normal map needs to have different logic.
Hey there everyone! I know its been a while since I updated this thread. Had some things to take care of IRL. But im back and working on my project again! @LeahM Thank you so much! those words mean so much to me! So I made a pretty big decision with regards to my combat system. I recently picked up For Honor from…
I though this was done with UV shell mask too, and requires an SVG or bitmap. Anyone know if there is a way to access the UV coordinates via code magic and auto generate a UV shell mask? I guess that may be flawed the way Designer works, you'd need to feed it a 3D model in a node.... guess baking it out makes sense in the…
I agree it's a really nice simple design. Easy to navigate. Liked the scale of everything, nicely big and clear. I expect you will put a downloadable CV/Resume on there. If not you should. Your art is cool too. I am also clueless when it comes to web design code. So will have to give Muse a whirl sometime.
I didn't do any of the network code, but I'll pass the question to our programmers! I can tell you so much as that we used the Photon Network System which worked great but defo needed some getting used to (I remember quite a few "Aha"-Moments coming from them as they kept polishing the netcode).
