This is my favorite work with my colleagues in my free time in D'sculpt Studio. I especially fancy to Blizzard artwork and once again I decided to sculpt fanart about Barbarian character but with a little bit under my idea. Title: Barbarian Version by Dsculpt Studio Country: VietNam Software: 3Ds Max, Zbrush
Inspired by Blizzards Warcraft 3 and Gears of War I modeled Prince Arthas as I imagine he would appear if the new WoW expansion pack was going to use the UE3 engine. I used Softimage XSI to create the low poly mesh, Mudbox to create the high poly mesh, and Photoshop for the textures. Polycount is sitting at 7994. Beauty…

Played with darkening some things up and adjusted the lighting up a bit. Now just for some cleanup and finishing the back, and it should be close to done =) Any feedback is still very welcome, I would love to get this up to blizzard standards, so any pointers on how to do that would be awesome!
If you're trying to get a "warcraft" style thru. The biggest thing i can say is that there's not enough exaggeration going on. Blizzard's style tends to be BIG and in your face, and super colorful. YOu've got the colorful part kinda down pat. The models themselves leave a little to be desired. nice work amigo
It also depends on where you're working. Naughty Dog for instance may create most of their textures from zbrush/high poly models and use minimal photosourcing while Sledgehammer (COD) might do the opposite, and Blizzard will almost certainly continue to use hand painted textures until the end of time.
Someone is going to post a graph with a downwards bell curve. Everyone knows this graph but IMO the points laid out by Eric above carry more weight that the quality of your work*. There's no such thing as a dumb question, but there are questions that have been asked and there are good questions! *Unless its some blizzard…
you have feet right? do you have a digital camera or know anyone who does? i know blizzard like to handpaint their game stuff but they must have a digital camera lying around somewhere. put the camera on the floor in timer mode. you know what to do from there...
@maximumsproductions Thanks, appreciate the reply. I'll look into that stuff you mentioned :) Your advice about the bow piece is really valid and I appreciate that, thanks. Is the Blizzard Art Contest possible for me to do? I remember it being an American/Candian Student only kind of thing or am I getting that wrong?
The 'fever' comes from greed. They look at WoW and think that they can grab a marketshare, but it fails because Blizzard did it right and took their time getting it right. Will there be another game that can match the accomplishments of WoW? Probably, but it won't happen over night. It will be an IP that took years to…
