I'll gladly take the tomatoes that'll be tossed at me for saying this, but 25 people out of around 400 people isn't much of a layoff to get worked up over. And, it sounds more like yearly cleansing of low performing staff members then budget cuts. It's good for every studio to let the weaker staff members go ever 12-18…
Looks good so far, really dig it especially color-wise. Only suggestion I have right now is in screenshot 2 on the left you have 6 windows on a building, all with (what would I call those? lol) hanging down. Maybe make a couple of them covering the windows, or have a few windows missing them. I see you put variation in the…
Do you know what the rules are if a draft is in place? I actually talked to recruiters about joining a branch. My grandfather's fought in WWII and I would have joined the military to do a duty to the US and to help pay for college. Unfortunetly I have asthma and the government didn't trust me with a multi-million dollar…
(image 2) Is that red object a door? The window looks really odd if it is, far too much frame. (image 5) The door's very thick, about twice as thick as it should be. I'd work on the texture alignment on the bricks, or maybe some trim. There's a layer of very slim bricks right over the door that runs straight into a…
Cool to see some other polycounters looking at Construct 2 - I've been using the past 6 months or more, compared to TGF / CNP, it has a similar intuitive interface, and is very quick in terms of bashing out prototypes. The chokepoint I've had so far is trying to find decent middleware to try ship stuff to things like…
Hi all, yes, as of now it's just a flat image thwap'd onto a 6-sider. i drummed up the texture during my down time away from maya, so i didnt layout the UVs prior. this is ass-backward i know. good points though, there will definately be much tweaking to do. later i'll grab a capture so you can see it in 3D and we can go…
If anyone is at GDC this week and fancies a beer and a chat about Mari let me know. I'm going to be in the St Regis Hotel bar this evening between 6-7pm. I'll be wearing a blue shirt with a yellow paint splash on it. Come say Hi and I'll grab you a beer. You can drop me an email at greasley@thefoundry.co.uk. We're running…
[ QUOTE ] What about that gigantic special controller for that one 'Mech game? [/ QUOTE ] Steel Battalion. Its not a true mech game until it requires a manual for the keyboard controls. I remember MW2 came with a card you layed on the keyboard just for the F keys. You had to press like 6 different keys just to get your…
You can merge all, dynamesh it, sculpt, polypaint, decimate and export to obj. Use xnormal to bake the sculpted dynamesh sword into your original (unwrapped) sword . That way you don't lose the original topology. 1- GOZ - 3Ds max > ZBrush 2- Merge all 3- Dynamesh 4- Sculpt / polypaint 5- Decimate !- if needed -! 6- Export…
Your floor heights seem very short and inconsistent. Buildings are, generally, 10-12' per level; yours appears to be maybe 6' per level. If you are going for a tenement block, the windows should be both larger and closer together, and they need frames rather than attaching directly to the brick. I'd strongly recommend you…
