Yeah generally. Just trace in order to subconsciously calibrate yourself, stabilize your hands etc. Try to think deeply of all the media and characters you enjoy too, and try to analyze their designs as deeply as you can, see what makes them work. Yea I just dynamesh the rough form and then use quad drawl. I find this easier that building topo from scratch as quad draw allows quick iteration on topo flow. Also it breaks things into steps. Rather than think about topo and form at same time, they are separate. Easier for the monkey brain. -

I've owned a 21ux for about 2 years now, between home and work I've put alot of hours into it and I have no regrets. I've found that I spend less time undoing strokes with the Cintiq, I've drawn with traditional tablets for about 13 years but it never matched how I naturally draw. -

Hi, don't know why I've avoided posting here for so long. Probably fear of the brutal feedback. I wouldn't mind some now though. Anyway I drew something new to model, it's a dino, toad, cyborg, robot thing. Gonna add more detail in the model just didn't feel like drawing it all. -

Life drawing is probably the main thing. Even if you aren't a character artist, it will teach you structure, proportions, and flow. Flow comes with gesture drawings.
