Hi guys ! Here is latest update for the turret. I am polishing textures and some of unfinished area right now. After it is done, I start to work on the Creep den. I know time is running out, but I will try to do my best. Thanks
There's a lot of research being done in automated 3d modeling. Take a look at the latest SIGGRAPH papers. If anything you make has a defineable ruleset, this can start to be automated. For a long time to come though we'll still need talented artists to make customized content.
As for the latest model, I would say the cheeks are too pulled in compared to the reference, and her lips are too narrow in terms of width. She looks like she's doing a 'duck' face :) I would put in the eyes, because it gives you another landmark to work with.
This is very interesting! How did you figure out that the memory clock dropped? I have been running Blender with 16 million polys but Afterburnder doesn't register a memory clock drop. Currently im getting 4fps on my 460gtx with the latest Beta drivers :/
the previous image was better in terms of lighting. The latest one has to much contrast for a foggy scene. You could spend some more time on the tree. Some of the branches are very thin and polycount seems to be low. I really like the progress so far. Keep it up!
hey man, I just posted a pretty in depth step by step guide in this thread I think you could apply to your situation here as well. Cheers :) http://polycount.com/discussion/187282/advice-on-what-to-do-next-portfolio-resume-cv#latest
wow that is odd...never heard of this but it makes sense with hardware accel...but you have a good card that shouldn't really slow down. Things to check... -latest nvidia drivers? -max updates? -any windows updates involved? -mess with the settings inside nvidias configuration stuff?
Thanks for all your help teaandcigarettes. I am actually following your tutorial. Really great stuff. Anyway here is my latest iteration: I still need to revisit the actual tree mesh, but for now im going to just finish this branch texture.
Latest version of Max you need is 2008 for Crysis 1 and Max 2009 for Crysis Wars. Max 2010 and or -9 is not supported. Crysis 2 will get it's SDK soon enough, although if it's anything like the firs one, I suggest to wait out for some patches.
I think the team works in a altered reality where time stands still. The impression I got is that they wanted to keep upping the game to compete with the latest and greatest FPS games, when/if it is finally released I'm betting it will be either the next Half Life, or the next Daikatana.
