I am not much of a modeller so no advice there. However, you did not bake a normal map from a high poly. Other modellers may correct me, but you should create a normal map 99% of the time ^^. This is a precision issue, common 8bit-per-channel image formats can only hold so much information. Your baker has two options, pick the closest color value (which gives you stair-stepping artifacts like this) or dither (which adds noise). Yeah, not with the toolbox docker, but you can do it with the toolbar. Settings->configure Toolbars. There's by default 2 toolbars, the main one and the brushes and stuff one. You can add and remove tools from both. We used to have the ability to move them above, but it seems like that was removed... it probably broke.… -

thanks eric. that mod seems to work 95% - i get the tab panel functionality as i wanted, but whenever i pull up the graph editor from the timeline and push it down again, the tabs get briefly re-initialized as toolbars in the middle of the screen before the interface becomes usable again. that's quite weird - 7 never did… -
