does anyone have an idea of what would be the best way to model a roller coaster similar to the image attached. I want the tracks marked in red to follow the curvature of the loops. I'm using 3ds max, but path deform wsm does not seem to work properly, in some areas it follows the loop correctly in others it does not.

yep that, and if you want it to follow the streams more exactly, you need to have seperate pieces of mesh that uv-mapped in a way that it follows the scrolling, that way you can control the speed of the flow, and the direction, simply by the uv-map. hope I'm making any sense here.
Hi SpeCter, I did try linking to the object axis and unfortunately the space wrap didnt not follow. Because I'm using a cloth modifier on the mesh the object's axis remains in the same position as the mesh deforms, I wondered if there was a way for a space warp to follow a vert or a plane.
Draw the base circle (that the text will follow) and use the typing tool on the edges of this circle. This gives you the text following the circle path. Edit: I lie thats Illustrator. In the text tool there is a T with an arched arrow underneath it, click that and mess with them to get what you want.
