Do any of the tools for painting on 3d models (Zbrush, 3DCoat etc) allow you to paint on a model that has a normal map shader on it, so you can visualize the final look more easily and paint a diffuse map that matches the normal map and such?
Fun update - 3D prints! Hot off the press, my cousin has been kind enough to use his new 3D printer to make some sweet prints of this guy. He's still a bit gooey, gonna clean him up and paint him soon!
looking awesome, concerning the cut out if he is going to be mounted on foam core and then cut out the hair is going to give you some gruff. i say stay on the side of bigger smoother shapes with the sillouette that you are going to cut out. i say stick with 300 dpi printed on photo paper, people coming up to your booth…
Hi guys, I'm currently working on a small hand painted scene. I was inspired by a friend who does hand painted texturing to give it a try. I'm trying for diffuse only, no spec or normal. I may add lights though. I have never hand painted textures before and I'm definitely having difficulties so any feedback or critique…
I had a go painting custom alphas, love the new feature though I find it really hard to know exactly where I am painting on my textures, as I cannot see the texture beneath the alpha in order to have fine control over the painting process. Dont know if my workflow is correct, I'd appreciate if someone could explain or send…

It's a set of two dioramas with two figures each done at 75mm scale for miniature painters and collectors. It is nearly funded and has a few days left to get there! More details here in the link and…
Is there any method or script out there that gives you the ability to have 2 control points on an object so you can snap them independently on different objects? As currently, moving the pivot point and snapping to another vertex/point will disturb the previous pivot? Cheers for any help!
Hello, I tried to make patch of nature that felt nostalgic and fairylike. I was inspired by the latest King's Quest game, and I wanted to achieve a handpainted but more realistic and non-cartoony feel. Therefore I painted all textures with watercolors on rough paper. I used some brighter gouache to paint grass or make…
Hey guys I have a bunch of keyframed points that translate over time. They translate according to the rotation of a fixed point (think of facialanimation tracker moving with a headbone), from those points i would like to find the original rotationpoint since i don't have that data. My math skills arn't what they should be…
