i dont want to derail further but you can render your branch using an orthogonal camera, which basically works just as well as RTT. Also you can download this material which will let you render normals. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/normaltexmap
have you maybe installed some script/plugin recently? i remember a similar issue with polyboost and .dds files. the trick was to re-enable the plugin in customize->plugin manager* *hopefully the right location. i have altered the menu structure on my install somewhat, so not sure on this.
The main problem of this tool for me is that it is a script. So Its not really intergrated into a modifier or something and work a bit "off". I want to test it more before judging but that the first thing I realized and annoyed me a bit. Besides that, it was superfast and cool so far A lot of toys to play with
Yeah, that's what I've meant from the start, see my post :) Actual retopo is going fast enough already, even with 4000 faces I usually get that part done in a day... but I've just got very excited about this 3ds max script on renderhjs's link.
of course. polysculpt or polymagus script, not sure which one had it in there. very fast as long as you're using max5 and beyond. since my max version doesn't have built-in (and useful) uv-relax, i use this prior to unwrapping and morph the mesh back into the original shape afterwards.
Unreal engine fo sho! Those video tutorials that come with it are golden. Don't try to do any fancy AI scripting if your not into that. It's meant for deathmatch. Anything other than deathmatch get a bit hard to program. But then again, I hardly knew Kismet and the documentation for it at the time was shit.
To answer one question, Polyboost has been integrated into 3ds Max as the Ribbon toolbar. I would say you don't need any external scripts right off the bat, because the Ribbon has most things you would need. Maybe a quad-chamfer tool.
flash example: render 20 frames, import them into a flash stage, grab some action script that controls movie clip speed by mouse position. bobs your uncle cheap and rather graphics heavy, but flash does have a 98% audience so they are very likely to see it.
I was wondering how simple? Do you need to start compiling scripts? I have downloaded and coocked/compiled the package from the starters kit with frontend), but I have no experience with coding. What other options are there. I haven't found any tutorials sofar, how to do it.
Demon dude: SOMETIMES THE HERO DIES Death: Then so be it. Shoulda said, "I'M NOT A HERO" Aside from the fact that they didn't get my OK on the script, I can't wait for this game! Also glad it's coming out before Borderlands 2 :) Gonna need some time for that one.
