I use the Wacom Intuos Pro M. I can't suggest you what to buy without knowing your budget but I personally wouldn't cheap out on something that you will be using almost daily. Painting on paper is a whole different thing. I can't do that either.
Very helpful tutorial. I used a wacom to make some alphas for a solid colored targa. I used a cylinder with a taper and bend modifier for the tail and a plane detached from the neck and edited to fit around the bridle for the mane. The mane is alright, could be better. The tail is not so convincing.
Hey polycount! I always wanted to dive into concepting some landscapes with my Wacom bamboo (which works really well and I actually bought for sculpting). So I just started on a little piece. What do you think? I'm currently working on some details and highlighting from the sun. Suggestions and crits would be kind :)

Yea I'd love to have some sort of a 3D input device that could be used to paint in normal information directly onto the model in real time, like a 3D wacom tablet or ZBrush without the poly geometry. Maybe the new Nintendo controller will lead to these sorts of tools being developed?
I was just thinking, and it might be a stupid idea.... ...how about a section with ebay links? Anytime a polycounter is flogging something, they can slap it up on there. Notice a great deal on a wacom or legit photoshop, and want to let others know - post a link. I do more buying than selling, and would rather someone here…
Hello artists! I am trying to find a gift for my friend, who is a digital (and traditional) artist that is now learning 3D animation. He is mostly interested in drawing animations. Budget $250. Any suggestion would be great! What would you like to get as a gift? He does already have wacom tablet.
First UV map I have ever done, ever. BUT CAN I SKIN IT? More to the point, can I skin it without my Wacom tablet? It's at the fixers for now, but I am giving this a shot anyway. And now! I don't think I know what I'm doing. Any help would be seriously appreciated
Yup, I totally get that. See if I can locate and hook up the ol' Wacom. I'll say, being the only artist on a game project is rough going, especially when you feel you can't get content made and finalized fast enough. I can only imagine how my programmer feels. Ty for the continued input Brian.
hexacores make sense for rendering but i would not personally want to trade clock speed for more cores. that's for a machine that is primarily used for working interactively, not a render box. you might also require equipment other than the PC. screen(s), wacom, backup solutions? 1500 isn't quite such a massive budget to…
