I'll take the straight up handpainted one if I wanted to err towards a strict illustrated feel. The ZBrush one errs towards a more realistic depiction on the spectrum of handpainted textures.
don't know about blender but you can retopo in zbrush, although i didn't use it look for a tutorial on youtube to understand the basic and then u can start retopo right-away
Small update. Been doing a little bit of zbrush stuff. I find it a little intimidating to go too crazy with it. Any advice on where I am going with this would be great.
I've been plugging along on the character, just finished up retopologizing all the organic bits in zBrush, so the high poly is basically done, minus any adjustments anyone sees.
Thanks for the link. Already took FB and my pic off now. Probably for the best :P And yes, I'm learning ZBrush atm. I love Eat3D the most, awesome stuff.
sweet cheers guys! edit: watched the vid, result is really nice but damn it reminds me of everything I dont miss in zbrush . still an actual use for the 2.5d canvas! woot
Really nice work dude, i especially like how you handed the welded seams. I would have assumed zbrush but that looks like a nice and elegant solution
Well, Zbrush 3.5 has the scales brush, so that plus a nice alpha and some brush modifier tweaks would be my guess as far as sculpting. The rendering methods are anybody's guess.
Yeah last piece reminds me of the modeled Zbrush armor someone made, the texture was dark red and the armor set was all one piece with those channels between plates of armor.
Ok this is a small update but i wasent pleased with my terrain so i re sculpted it in Zbrush and got it in world machine. i think this is better.... what ya guys think?
