Hi, i'm a beginner at 3D modelling and most of the stuff i have done for the moment has been very "cubic" lets say and not very complex. So i decided to try and model a weapon i drew and i'm currently doing the blockout, but i'm having some troubles. First of all i'm lost as to how to make my model look smooth without…
Hi everyone hope you all had a great bank holiday! Thought I'd start this thread to help me better understand good texturing workflows and hopefully your knowledge and advice will help others too. i would do the art test if it only takes a couple days. They already like your portfolio, and if all fails and you are still looking for work in Feb, you'd have made a good impression and it'd be a fast track to getting hired. It doesn't have to be your first pick, but this is a great opportunity to create a backup plan B…

Hi!! I wanted to ask you for some advice. I'm looking to create a portfolio of creatures (and maybe a little bit of characters, but preferably creatures), which is what I really enjoy doing, and I want to increase my chances of getting hired. So I want to add more skills to my repertoire. I'm thinking of starting to study…
Well in a nutshell as a hobbyist, it's an overiding aspiration too "Git Gud" perfecting my craft i.e. hard surface prop artist. Too that end been following these guys for years attempting to grind that looong bumpy road flat and think I've managed to pick up a thing or two however from my POV there's awhile left before…
Actually I might be one of these people. I bake normalmaps in max without any plugins. I bake in 3dsmax and would change the channelorientation (y+ / y- and so forth) to the target Engine. Then i bake it down as a tangent space normalmap. I don't see where you need any extra tools for that? Always work's fine for me. For…
