I'm trying to import my colored spec map into substance painter and i have but the problem i'm facing is substance painter refuses to use RGB in the spec channel. Anybody know a quick tutorial or wiki link?
pretty! clock is a little noisy in the spec, maybe reduce spec brightness on some of the hotter edges to lessen alias noise? little more AO in spec too maybe?
I've normal mapped a character, and just made a spec map. Problem is, the spec map goes by real geometry instead of the normal map lighting. How do I make the spec map obey the normal map?
@Johny: Yeah, I can't tell if it's the spec, or the normal. I'm pretty sure it's the spec. I adjusted it a little, but I need to go into the spec map and hand paint it a bit.
Hi everyone! I've always been under the impression that in order to really make your normal map pop, you needed a spec map too. Even for something that is mostly flat in appearance, you would need a tiny bit of spec right? Does it really make sense to have just a diffuse and normal map plugged in a shader, with no spec? Or…
No, you can't have a coloured spec if you need to store it in the alpha. Paint the grayscale spec map, get it looking right, then just create an alpha channel for the diffuse and paste the spec map in.
