Oh yes thats all around here. If the core pipeline is frozen on a version that does not meat that other departments arnt using a newer version. Its not uncommon that the FX department is on the newest version and does export VDB files for further use in the pipeline. Also the Modeling department could use a newer version… -

Yes. I don't do much 3D anymore since it al just starts feeling the same to me. Especially adding details to a highpoly for the sake of it. I'm with Racer445 here. Also I do think part of it is because the modeling tools are so bad these days. Autodesk programs are a joke, relics from 10 years ago that have barely evolved… -

Personally, I recommend you perhaps write plugins (or patches, in the case of opensource ) for already popular software. There are already plenty of small modeling applications that have little to no chance of competing. Having 'simplified' modeling (and only modeling) software with power-user features seems very strange… -
