interestingly (well to me anyway =) ) I can randomize scripted plugin objects in my scatter tools.... you can invalidate the mesh using SimpleObject::MeshInvalid(); which forces the mesh to be rebuilt then in the script you change seed rseed to seed (random 0 65535) and voilà a new mesh at every spot

How does one take an older script and update it to be compatible for new versions of Maya? Would I have to recreate the script again or be able to change a few things in order for the scripts to work? If so, where's the best place to learn scripting for maya? Thank you
That wasn't it, but the average line script with the straighten option selected looks just like the script I described. That script collection also has a bunch of other useful looking scripts.
Is there a script that renders the front/back/left/right/top/down viewport of selected objects. So I would select a number of objects, run the script (and the script switches the viewports, frames the selected objects in the viewport and renders using the current settings?)
