3D model of the Holosun Red Dot sight. I used Blender for modeling high and low poly versions of the sight then baked it in Marmoset Toolbag, finally I used Substance 3d Painter to texture the model. Luxology has pushed modo 501 out the door in time for the holidays. I'm imagining that many loved ones of 3d artists are cursing their luck as they had already purchased a Cintiq or something else of lesser value than this release. As you can imagine, there is improvement and new features across the board and there's no…
After switching to 501 I never had proper normals.I switched 501 for the smoothing groups and it's supposed to make my bakes even better not worse. It seems mainly I have problems on the edges, here are the pictures, please help. In marmoset: In MODO wievport: Normal Map: Low Poly with smoothing groups:
Trying to pick up Modo 501 at the moment so I'm working with the trial download. I ran into an issue trying to import an unwrapped model from UV layout back to Modo though. Anytime I import the OBJ nack into Modo it erases all of my painfully laid out UVs. Importing into and then back out of maya 2012 before Modo doesn't…

Smoothing groups do work with collada, but my mesh is about 250 smaller than if i export with FBX (no smoothing groups though) has anyone gotten this to work correctly by exporting from modo into udk yet? i hope i'm…

I'm trying to resist just purchasing it because I'm a bit poor atm... though I'll probably give in sooner or later. From what I know it has a some new features that may prove useful to us as game artists: 1. Smoothing Groups are…
Another Modo question for you experts. I'm baking some AO using floating geometry and I can't figure out how to keep the floaters from casting shadows in the bake. Is there a "casts shadows" toggle somewhere like in Maya or will I just have to paint them out?
http://www.luxology.com/modo/index.aspx One of modo 5's new features is smoothing groups. Just wondering how it compares to what Max has and whether it will be as useful as people hope.
