I have tried exporting out of modo 501 with fbx and collada into unreal to see if smoothing groups work.
Smoothing groups do work with collada, but my mesh is about 250 smaller than if i export with FBX (no smoothing groups though)
has anyone gotten this to work correctly by exporting from modo into udk yet? i hope i'm just missing something, but isn't collada a dated format? if thats the case, why can we export only to .dae, an outdated format? i could be wrong about this, i just REALLY wanted to be able to export from modo>udk and no more modo>maya>udk.

If that fails, try the .ASE export script? It'll be on google somewhere. Sparking spot, I think?
i just wish this would work with fbx, there would be no problems then.
Collada isn't a dated format, it's just that Epic doesn't seem to want to support it anymore.
