When I make two planes, intersect them and add the diffuse with the opacity map on it I get 2 of the sides of the planes to render the image. But when I go behind it, it's just blank (pure alpha). Is there a way to make a card display a picture on both sides?
Have a go at creating, saving and using an animated model in-engine. You will find that it is infinitely smooth. You do indeed make frames, but you aren't making every frame, you are making keyframes that are smoothly tweened to infinity. You can of course make it behave like traditional animation, but it's not the…
True, I do not think anybody will actually look at the cool fences I made, lol. I think I might go for a little more simple style just for the sake of making my life easier at the moment.
Hello, I am trying to learn how to make modular environments, Currently I am working on making simple corridors. I know that 3ds max has a really handy symmetry modifier to make corners by just rotating. Blender doesn't have this in its mirror modifier, how can I easily do what 3ds max does? (I tried with an array and an…
You should post what you've got already as it'll be a lot easier make relevant suggestions. Some quick suggestions would otherwise be that you could add some moss via vertex painting, add some mushrooms and/or bake some AO to the vertex colors to add some depth.
Hi there, Any good resources out there for making foliage? Happy to look at any good tutorials out there. I'm starting with a Fir tree. Started with a pine needle and working up from there. I understand about bent normals, more interested on how to construct the low poly mesh. Just want to make something nice.
Hi there, this is my first high poly model for class, I chose a mace from Skyrim. We're going to bake it down to a normal map later. I tried making the runes more noticeable but they don't seem to be from a distance. Let me know what you think! :) (Last one is a ref shot).
If blender makes good maps, and it's fast, stick with it. It would be good to test Xnormal though to compare render speed & output quality. You can also batch process with Xnormal, various people have made scripts to do this. Setting up occluders depends on how the asset is going to be used. If it mostly sits on the…
This is the hi-poly, I splitted it to bake it separately: http://take.ms/zlIQV recreating a low poly shape from scratch and make it stick near the hi poly wouldn't create the same mistakes? Maybe a little less but... as a rule I found "less polys you got, the less planar they are." on another thread. So where can I accept…
I think making a 2D sprite animation (like most fighting games) on a simple plane would still work for the official challenge. Mr. Game & Watch in Smash Bros is pretty 2D. Would be even cooler is if you made sprites for a character who has only appeared in 3D fighting games.
