Wow! I'm surprised with the amount replies. Wish I get that many on my next crit :P hehe Sorry for the delay folks. Digital Extremes is the studio where my new position is. Very happy to be aboard Stimpack and others that may be from DE. I'm excited to get to work.
KDR that 'mine' joke was stolen from some cg film with ducks in it or birds, little Nemo actually. The seagulls fighting over food. And was'nt very funny at all. Sorry. The voice acting was horrid, but I guess the general ideas were decent. (Edit: I meant in KDR's example)
Sorry, I should have been more clear. That's another mesh that has the same problem. I managed to fix the L piece by making the UV maps cover the entire length. So instead of 2 islands the go perpendicular, I have one longer one that bends in the middle.
Sorry i absolutely don't know anything about unity (and iphones), but yeah maybe it's not the same shader version on both plateform. You would propably have better chances on Unity forums, they look pretty active. You don't need an HDR lightmap to achieve an overbrighten effect anyway.
Sorry for the double post.. but here is the full view, I also just went for a basic blade design instead of something "cool" since I didn't want to bother with it. http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/7954/swordep4.jpg I also redid parts of it and tweaked quite a few things.

Sorry to get back so late on this topic. The solution within the settings for smoothing groups in Modo worked like a charm! Thank you for that. Bek: I will check that workflow out as well. We are looking for a good solid pipeline to stick with. Thank you all for such great resources! Go community!
sorry, here you go: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/40673285/arc.obj Not sure what you mean about the uv's being to close to each other, you mean like stretching the edges on the outline of the arc? Wouldn't that stretching...umm...........cause even more distortion? Thanks for your help
sorry gauss, you're not here yet so I can't sectaurs, where the hell are you? wrong island matey!! mmm this beer is great, and served after 11pm by naked ladies on fast motorbikes! I've heard the Manx Monstertruck 24 hour betting shop is opening soon... with lasers!
