Yes its ok painting the color but I want to use the clone stamp tool on the model itself and its result be projected on the texture , I dont want to hand paint colors but I want to handpaint the clonestamp tool from PS ... is this possible in any software?
I've had a stab at lighting. I'm hoping to call this final for now, got so much work to do on my other modules eeee! I've added more props around the level, and I've made a new handpainted rock texture (64x64 for extra detail)
A good craftsman never blames their tools. Pay more attention to your posture & ergonomics. There's no difference in effort now vs. then. Good handpainting is just as time-consuming and difficult as good sculpting & materials work. There's still no substitute for sustained focussed effort. Git gud, son.
Thanks jose.fuentes. I'm gonna texture this using PBR but with some some hand painting. I'm not sure traditional methods will get me all the way, so it's gonna take a lot of experimentation to find a nice middle ground between PBR, but with the nuances of handpainted work.
If its only basic painting i would go with mudbox. Its still one of the best handpainting tools out there if you need UDIMs. If you try it dont use the 2019 version there are some bad bugs. Until 2019.1 is ready i recommend 2018.2
Thank you for taking the time @Noren You have a fair point there! The textures are based on a groom bake and are PBR-based / handpainted, so I can conclude that my texturing work still needs some refining, additionally a clear artstyle goal. Best regards!
Hey Dwalker, Your are correct! but given the overall style being handpainted and fantasy and not overly realistic I think the metal you saw it's not just steel. When the novel is ready you'll see that in Kalandria there were different types of metals that blacksmiths use in making weapons.
If you like the style of those games, you should also check out Motigas Gigantic, the Witness and Abzu. I gotta agree with @Chimp , there isnt really a name for it, but you could call WoW handpainted instead of stylized if you really need to separate them.
Just do it in Zbrush IMO if you really need that feature. Set the brush of your choice to RGB, increase the roll value, and polypaint away. If you're working on Dota 2 handpainted stuff you should be able to get a plenty high-resolution texture out of that.
The tools are basically the same. What you're looking for are handpainted textures. Some tutorials about how to paint in that style. http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/TexturingTutorials#Painting_Stylistic_Textures This might help you with the terrain creation part:…
