What about hair, I'm sure people have had to bake planes of hair texture to low-poly mesh. Sometimes you cant have Real geometry for 100000 objects, it is just too high a poly-count.

There really shouldn't be any problem working in whatever scale you want, as long as you adjust your perspective and orthographic cameras accordingly. Select your cameras, go to their attributes, and change the near clip plane to 1 and the far clip plane to 100000.

That's probably because there is a value noted "00000.000" instead of "0.0000". This is something that was fixed in the past when reading obj files, but it looks like it still doesn't work for you. What application did you use to export this obj ? Can you send me your meshes ?

what are the dimensions of your model in system units ? If it requires insane high numbers ( eg. modell dimensions are about 1000000 units or so, just as example), it might even be some rounding issue.
