This is where haters start griping but this is purely a suggestion--I am trying to ramp up into designing guns again myself so I figured this would be a nice exercise, so I hope you don't mind. There's a history of these kinds of paintovers starting shit (Dfacto's SMG from DoD comes to mind) but this is not the intention.…
Welcome Oogh. You've definitly got the process down so I am going to comment on the textures individually. On this texture you've relied heavily on a crack overlay to portray proper cracks. What you've posted looks decent, but unbelievable. In the green area that I've highlighted I simply flipped the selected surface…
I'd probably break it up like so, assuming 1 work week is five 6-hour days (30 hours work), and assuming I had good concept art / image reference / model sheets already assembled to work from: Highpoly: 1 work week Lowpoly/UV/Bake Normals & AO: 1 work week Texturing: 1 work week I say these times because of the following -…

Good model! The face looks splotchy and hard to read (specularity too high and intense) as is the rest of the model. It looks like self illumination on tilt. The surfaces look like they have been blanketed by the same shinny finish and the ornamentation in the armor is lost. It took me a long time to see the axe in the…

I have an issue in Xgen that my groom won't generate when set to the standard Generate Primitives mode: Randomly across the surface ( which I usually use ) but when I change the generation mode it displays the hair just fine. Anyone knows what the problem might be? It would help me a lot, thanks :)
