Check the rubber around the buttons. I had a pen button that was so sensitive that if I squeezed the rubber it would trigger a button click. -

there is an option next to the divide button in zbrush that turns off the smoothing and just adds geo. forgot the name of the button but it just to the right of the divide button. -

Thanks poopipe but this "resource updater" doesn't work for me before you first find and right click "reload" each texture in texture library . "refresh" button in updater pane does nothing. Not sure if it's a bug or by design -
