I am LOVING this game!!! Just got got out of the ancient ruins. Great atmosphere. Masterfully done. Finally a game with the concept of subtlety and finesse. Not everything has to be about explosions and kill streaks. So refreshing. Good job to everyone at eidos!!!
Thanks for the comments guys slipsius: good point on the tip of the ramp. that can be taken care of with a simple reimporting into UE3 Zotter: I took some reference from mayan temples and interpreted my own civilization from a mix of other ancient civilizations.
Did you know that ancient Roger Ebert is the same age as Nolan Bushnell, the man who founded Atari? They're both 67 years old. Funny how one is a hopelessly out-of-touch antique and the other is a legendary, foreward-thinking pioneer.
I really like your current scene, it was a good decision to rework the size of your temple and the new materials and lights are way better :) I recodniced the metal stripes on the walls, looks pretty cool like an ancient scifi culture. Keep it up!!
Funny, I would say that of Maya. Can be a crashfest nightmare. It's like treading on eggshells. There is no doubt though, both Max and Maya are legacy bloated on ancient patched together codebases that surely cannot go on for many more years of 'papering over the cracks'
little update changed and refined the fibremesh, made some anatomy changes suggested by Satoshi. Im at a point now where ill start retopo. Entry can be seen here: https://www.artstation.com/contests/ancient-civilizations/challenges/16/submissions/13352
Looks good. Some solid details! And I might be nitpicking here, but it feels more like revival architecture (Rococo, Renaissance, Baroque, etc) than traditional architecture from antiquity, to my eye. Definitely doesn't read as an ancient temple at present.
This was a 10 week project I did for Virtual Environments II at UTDallas. I modeled and textured most assets in Maya, Blender and Painter. Assets are low poly game models. The goal was to make quality reusable assets for a realistic scene. Full breakdown on ArtStation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o28kBm
Hey all, By accident i stumbled onto Kevin Johnstones' old skinning tutorials... I'm hoping someone still has these stowed away on their HDD? Also i seem to recall Kenneth scott doing a tutorial way back for Quake 3 - Does anyone know if it still exists online?
Finally got around to getting some Gears of War images approved. This stuff is ancient by now, oh well better late than never I guess. Meshes were done by other artists at Streamline Studios. And some slightly more recent stuff done for Terminator Salvation.
