I'm running into a strange issue right now where MAX RTT normals look way different than XNormal. I don't recall such discrepancy in January when I was using Max 2012 and Xnormal. I have no idea what the difference is now or if it is even Max related.
Coming to UE5 from UE4 and have a few questions regarding modular sets and nanite. If I have an exterior building wall set that is going to be brick, is it better to use a height map to displace the mesh in ZBrush/Blender, then use nanite on those modular pieces? Assuming it would be a bit more work to get the modular…
Yea i find Xnormal hit and miss and the maya normal maps are really nice, even if they take a while to bake out! i am going to start using xnormal again for my AO maps though :) Generated the height map in topogun also - has awesome texture baking options :)
Thanks for pointing this out Eric  didn't fix this in the latest build yet, but it's on my list! Two screenshots of the latest build: Some notes on what I did: Footsteps Get spawned by an animation event. At first I applied them as decals, but when I used some displacement on the sand, the displacement wouldn't get…
My partner wanted to learn blender, so I've been helping them learn the basics. Haven't had much time for personal projects lately but helping them inspired me to throw some renders together. This is my first time really using assets provided by others (other than textures). I normally prefer to model everything myself,…
Hey Guys, I'm trying to bake down a texture to a flat plane. Just some greeble bits. There isn't that much of a change in elevation from bit to bit, but for some reason XNormal seems to "clip out" at a certain point? I'm not sure why this is happening. I've made sure that my cage is definitely above all the pieces, both in…
Before assuming I haven't read and searched for others with the same problem, I have, also with no success. I've been having this issue for days and this is after I've read many FAQs going over normal baking and what not. I'm fairly new to baking normals, as I've only been doing it for a few months. To show this issue, I…
I have tried to map the ambient occlusion of a legging in xnormal and maya, but in both programs the details of the clothes do not appear and it gets very bad, always smooth and very white, someone knows what to do for the details to appear strong in the image of the ambient occlusion? xNORMAL: Maya 2018 as the clothing is:
